Badminton Rules and Regulations

1.     All participants must observe and strictly abide by all the rules and regulations of the game.

2.    All enrolled/ enlisted /intending participants must pay the fees and complete the registration process                         before 8 AM on May 17, 2014 to be able to compete in the tournament.

3.     Participants are not allowed to change or replace their partner once registered.

4.     Referee's decisions are FINAL and not questionable. Referee has the right to disqualify any participant, for                 reasons of improper conduct in the court including unruly and offensive behavior.

5.     All participants must present themselves on time for their games at the respective courts when the call is                 made over the PA system. After 3 announcements opposite team will be declared as the winner of that game.

6.     Referee will provide shuttle as and when required.

7.     Choosing the court and first serve will be based on tossing shuttle for the serve and the losing team                               gets to choose the court.

8.     While serving, if the shuttle touches the net or lands on the lines, it will not be deemed as fault. Contact with             the net or posts and crossing over to the opposite court with body or racket will be deemed as fault.

9.     Serve will be deemed as at fault if the shuttle is held above waist line while serving.

10.     Roof (ceiling) and side walls of the court are considered “outside” the boundary.

11.     Scoring will be based on Rally Point System. All matches are decided based on the best two of three sets.                 Each game starts at 4 – 4.

12.     The team that is scoring 21 points first while maintaining a difference of at least 2 points wins the game.                   However, if the score reaches 20-20, the game is set to finish at a maximum of 23 points. The team that                       reaches 23 points first will be declared the winner.

13.     Decisions regarding “time outs” will rest upon the umpire.

14.     The Organizers reserves the right to change, alter, modify or delete any of the above at any point of time for           the better conduct of the tournament while remaining within the broad guidelines set forth herein.


Volleyball Rules and Regulations

1.     participants must observe and strictly abide by all the rules and regulations of the game.

2.     All enrolled teams must pay the fees and complete the registration process before 8AM on May 17, 2014 to be         able to compete in the tournament.

3.     Teams are not allowed to change or replace their team members once registered.

4.     Referee's decisions are FINAL and not questionable. Referee has the right to disqualify any participant, for               reasons of improper conduct in the court including unruly and offensive behavior.

5.     All teams must present themselves on time for their match at the respective courts when the call is made                 over the PA system. After 3 announcements, opposite team will be declared as the winner of that match.

6.     All matches are best two of the three sets. Each game starts at 4 – 4.

7.     For the first 2 games, the team that scores 25 points first (by rally scoring) wins the game, provided the                     margin of victory is at least by 2 points. However, if the score is tied at 25-25, the team who reaches 27 points             first, wins that game. 2 point margin rule is not applicable in this situation.

8.     If tied at one game each, a third game will be played. This game will start at 0-0. The team to score 15 points             with a minimum 2 points margin will win that match. However, if the score is tied at 15-15, the team that                 reaches 17 points (cap) first, wins that match. 2 point margin rule is not applicable in this situation.

9.     Hitting the ball back and forth over the net, with hands, forearms, head, or any part of the body is allowed.             Play is continued until one team fails to keep the ball in play – that is, in the air – or until a rule violation is               committed.

10.     A team must return the ball over the net after no more than three hits, and no player may hit the ball twice               in succession, except for block over the net. Blocking above the net is not counted as a hit.

11.     The return over the net must be done without catching, holding, or carrying the ball, without a player                           touching the net, and without entering the opponents’ area.

12.     A player keeps serving as long as his team continues to win points.

13.     The serve must rotate to a new player each time a team wins back the serve. For serve, if the ball makes                     contact with the net and lands on the serving team’s side, the receiving team receives a point and the serve.

14.     For serve, if the ball makes contact with the net and lands on the receiving team’s side, the ball is in play.

15.     If the ball land on the line it is considered as within the boundary.

16.     A maximum of two 30 seconds time outs and six substitutions, in any order, is allowed per game to a team.

17.     One libero player per team is allowed, as long as identified with a different color shirt and assigned before             each match.

18.     The Organizers reserves the right to change, alter, modify or delete any of the above at any point of time for             the better conduct of the tournament while remaining within the broad guidelines set forth herein.


Points and Advancement

1.     The teams will be divided in two groups (A & B).

2.     The team that wins a match without losing, any game will be awarded 3 points (2 + 1 bonus).

2.     The team that wins a match after losing one of the games will be awarded 2 points.

2.     The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals.

2.     In case of a tie between teams, the team that has the least points scored against them will advance.

2.     The top team in Group A will play the #2 in Group B and top team in Group B will play against #2 in Group A             in the semifinals.

2.     The winners of the semifinals will play for the championship.


Libero Rules

1.     Libero is restricted to performing as a back row player and has no right at all to complete an attack hit when           the ball is above the height of the top of the net.

2.     The Libero may not serve, block or attempt to block.

3.     The Libero must wear a different color shirt from the other members of the team.

4.     Substitutions involving a Libero are not counted as regular and their number is unlimited. A Libero cannot               take part in normal substitutions and may only enter or leave the game while the ball is out of play and                       before the whistle for service.

5.     It is necessary to have a rally between replacements of two different players involving a Libero. With the                     previous approval of the first referee, an injured Libero may be substituted during the match by any                           registered player within the normal line-up list of the score sheet.

6.     The designated replacement of a Libero will be limited to performing as a Libero for the rest of the match                 and the subsequent matches. Nevertheless, this player will be allowed to be registered again in the normal             line-up of later matches once the initially registered Libero is officially re-instituted.

7.     No other player will be authorized to perform as a Libero and in the case of further injury of the originally                 registered Libero, he/she will be replaced by the same player under the same conditions as stated in                           previous points.
